- Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 14-18
- Thread Tan 8/0
Materials
- Wing Natural dun wing bud (stacked CDC fibers, fanned)
- Tail Dun microfibetts (split microfibbets or Coq de Leon)
- Body PMD / callibaetis tan (fine dry-fly dubbing)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread at the 65% mark.
- Tie in a fan of stacked CDC fibers standing upright as the wing, spread in a 180-degree arc across the top.
- Run thread to the bend and split a sparse Coq de Leon or microfibbet tail, one shank long, into a shallow V.
- Dub a slim tapered body forward, building a small bump behind the wing to prop it upright.
- Figure-8 a touch of dubbing at the wing base to lock the fan, using half the dubbing you think you need.
- Whip finish behind the eye and snip.
