  • Hook Curved emerger hook, 14-16

Materials

  • Trailing shuck Brown/amber material (sparse Z-lon)
  • Body Gray-brown material (callibaetis dubbing)
  • Rib Gold middle (fine wire)
  • Wing Natural dun wing bud (1-2 CDC feathers)
  • Thorax Gray flotation (dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the 70% mark.
  2. Bind a wispy amber shuck at the bend, half a shank long, to suggest the shed nymphal skin.
  3. Dub a slim tapered abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
  4. Rib forward with fine gold wire in 5 open turns and tie off.
  5. Stack one or two CDC feathers and tie them in as an upright, slightly swept wing at the 60% mark.
  6. Dub a compact thorax around the wing base, keeping it sparse.
  7. Whip finish behind the eye.
