Classic Recipe
- Hook standard dry-fly hook (e.g. TMC 100), 14-20
- Thread Rusty brown 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Tail Split microfibetts, dun (6 fibers)
- Abdomen Turkey biot, rusty brown (1)
- Underwing CDC plume, light dun/white (2 feathers)
- Overwing Krystal Organza or poly yarn, dun (small clump)
- Thorax Superfine dubbing, rusty brown (1 pinch)
How to tie it
- Split a small bunch of microfibetts into a tail one and a half shank lengths long at the bend.
- Tie in the rusty-brown biot by the tip, cement the shank, and wrap forward to the 65% mark for a segmented abdomen.
- Tie in two CDC plumes plus a wisp of Organza/poly two eye-widths behind the eye, pointing forward.
- Figure-eight the wing material flat to each side as spent wings.
- Dub a slim rusty thorax over the wing base and whip finish.
