Lay a thread base and tie in 4-6 Microfibetts at the bend, splitting them into a wide V with figure-eight wraps and a tiny dubbing ball for support.
Tie in a single goose biot by its tip at the bend.
Wrap the biot forward in touching turns to the two-thirds mark, wound with the notch trailing it forms a naturally ribbed, segmented abdomen, then tie off.
Optionally tie in a short mallard-flank underwing, then stack 2-4 CDC feathers and tie them in as an upright or slightly swept dun wing about one shank length tall.
Dub a small thorax fore and aft of the wing to lock it upright.
Whip finish a small head; do not use gel floatant on the CDC - false-cast or use desiccant to dry it.
