Reference Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 14-18
  • Thread Tan 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Dun microfibetts (Split microfibbets)
  • Abdomen Tan or olive d rib larva lace (Goose/turkey biot)
  • Wing Natural dun wing bud (CDC feathers, fan-shaped)
  • Thorax Tan carapace (Fine dry-fly dubbing)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and lay a thread base to the bend.
  2. Tie in dun microfibbets and split them into a wide V tail with a dubbing ball for support.
  3. Tie in a biot by the tip and wrap it forward to the 65% mark for a segmented abdomen.
  4. Tie in a clump of CDC standing upright and fan it into a 180-degree comparadun wing across the top.
  5. Dub a thorax fore and aft of the wing base, figure-8ing to lock the wing upright.
  6. Whip finish behind the eye.
