Tyer Recipe

  • Hook Standard dry fly, 12-16
  • Thread Brown or olive 8/0

Materials

  • Dubbing Olive or tan dubbing (Body)
  • CDC feather Natural dun cdc feather (1 wing)
  • Closed-cell foam Yellow or orange closed cell foam (Small strip for head)

How to tie it

  1. Attach thread and wrap back to the bend.
  2. Dub a tapered body forward to two-thirds of the shank.
  3. Tie in a CDC feather as a downwing over the body, tips reaching the bend.
  4. Tie in a small strip of closed-cell foam at the front and fold it over to form a rounded balloon head behind the eye.
  5. Secure the foam, form a thread head, and whip finish.
