- Hook Standard dry-fly hook, 14-18
- Thread Black 8/0
Materials
- Body Black ostrich herl (Fine dry-fly dubbing)
- Wing/legs Natural dun rubber legs (One CDC feather)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and lay a thin thread base to the bend.
- Dub a shiny black rear gaster over the back third of the shank, then take a bare wrap to pinch the waist.
- Tie in a CDC feather by the tip at the waist.
- Take one turn of CDC at the waist to form a swept collar of legs, then bind and snip the stem.
- Dub a slightly smaller front head hump forward, leaving room at the eye.
- Whip finish at the eye and sweep the CDC fibers so they lie back over the body.
