- Hook Heavy curved nymph hook, 10-14
- Thread Olive 6/0
Materials
- Bead Copper or black slotted tungsten bead (Slotted tungsten bead)
- Rib Copper thorax stripe (Fine wire (optional))
- Body Olive ostrich herl (Micro polar chenille)
- Hot spot Fluorescent orange egg sac (Thread collar)
How to tie it
- Slide a slotted tungsten bead to the eye and start the thread behind it on the curved hook.
- If ribbing, tie in fine copper wire at the bend.
- Tie in the micro polar chenille at the bend.
- Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead, stroking the fibers rearward each wrap, then tie off.
- Counter-wrap the optional wire forward in 4-5 open turns to lock the body and helicopter off the tag.
- Build a short fluorescent-orange thread hot spot behind the bead and whip finish.
