How to tie it
Start the thread on the DJS 300 jig hook and lay a smooth underbody the length of the shank. Catgut is translucent so the underbody colour is the body colour. Pick it deliberately.
Tie in a strand of catgut biothread at the bend and wrap it forward in slightly overlapping turns to the 70% mark, stretching as you go so the material thins and segments itself.
Tie off the catgut cleanly. Any lump here shows through the translucent body, so trim close and bind the stub flat.
Dub a compact thorax of Thorax Nymph Dubbing at the front of the fly, keeping it spiky as a contrast against the slick abdomen.
Pick the thorax out top and bottom so the fibres read as legs and gills, then whip finish.
Fish it dead drift on a Euro rig. The jig hook rides point-up, so it can be worked right on the bottom.
