Classic Recipe
- Hook 2x long dry/wet, 8-12
- Thread Black & yellow 6/0
Materials
- Body Yellow chenille or foam (full)
- Back Black chenille or marker (stripe)
- Hackle Clipped, sparse (legs)
How to tie it
- Start thread and lay a base along the 2x long shank.
- Tie in yellow chenille (or a foam strip) at the bend, and tie in black chenille alongside for the back stripe.
- Wrap the yellow chenille forward to form a full, plump body and tie off behind the eye.
- Lay the black chenille forward over the top as a dorsal stripe and bind it down (or draw the stripe with a black marker).
- Tie in a hackle and palmer a sparse turn or two, then clip it top and bottom so only stubby leg fibers remain along the sides.
- Build a head, whip finish, and cement.
