Classic Recipe

  • Hook Long-shank streamer/lure hook, 6-10
  • Thread Black 6/0 (140 denier)

Materials

  • Eyes Silver bead chain (1 pair)
  • Tail White marabou (1 clump)
  • Body Fluorescent lime-green chenille (1 length)
  • Rib Silver wire (1 length)
  • Wing White marabou (1 generous clump)

How to tie it

  1. Fix the silver bead-chain eyes on top of the shank just behind the eye with figure-eight wraps.
  2. Run thread to the bend and tie in a tail of white marabou about one shank length long.
  3. Tie in the silver wire and a length of fluorescent green chenille at the tail base.
  4. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the bead-chain eyes and tie off.
  5. Counter-wrap the silver wire forward in 4-5 evenly spaced turns for a rib and durability, then tie off and helicopter to break it.
  6. Tie in a generous wing of white marabou on top, reaching to about the end of the tail, so the fly has a pulsing white top and tail.
  7. Build a neat head behind the eye, whip finish and cement.
  8. The bead-chain eyes make it fish jig-style, riding hook-point up on the drop.
