Classic Recipe
- Hook Curved scud/nymph hook (Tiemco 2487), 10-14
- Thread To match body 70-140 denier
Materials
- Bead Tungsten or gold bead (optional) (1)
- Body Ultra/micro chenille (wine, red, brown or tan) (1 length)
- Rib Fine wire (optional) (as needed)
How to tie it
- If using a bead, slide it to the eye first. Start thread and lay a smooth thread base along the shank.
- Tie in a length of ultra chenille at the hook bend, leaving a short tag hanging past the bend as the trailing tail.
- Wrap or simply lay the chenille forward along the shank and secure it behind the bead/eye, leaving a matching short tag at the front.
- If ribbing, counter-wrap fine wire forward in 4-5 open turns to add segmentation and durability, then tie off.
- Whip finish and singe the two chenille tags with a lighter or trim them to taper so they wiggle like a live worm.
- For a bloodworm look, use dark red or wine chenille; for aquatic worms on tailwaters use tan or brown.
