Wrap .010 Lead Wire on the shank and bind it down with thread wraps back and forth through it.
Take the thread to the rear of the hook and build a small taper up to the wire.
Strip most of the fibers from a Pheasant Rump feather for a bushy tail one shank-length long; tie it in on top of the shank and trim the excess so it transitions into the lead.
Tie in the Small Red Wire rib.
Pluck a few Pheasant Tail fibers, tie them in by the tips and bind back to the tail, then take the thread forward to the thorax. Wrap the fibers forward as the body, capture at the thorax and trim.
Counter-wrap the wire forward through the pheasant tail to lock it down and segment the body; capture and spin it off.
Build a ball of Peacock Ice Dub for the thorax; it props up the collar.
Take a second Pheasant Rump feather, clip the tip in hackle pliers and draw the fibers back to expose the tip; tie the tip in at the eye, trim the excess and take the thread up to the eye.
Spin the feather forward, gently working the fibers rearward with each turn. At the end of the stem capture it, stroke the fibers back and lay a few wraps back onto the fly; hold tension with the bobbin and pop the stem out. Trim any trapped fibers and clean up the head with a few wraps.
