Reference Recipe
- Hook Wide-gap scud/nymph hook, 8-10
- Thread Tan 6/0
Materials
- Bead Gold bead (Optional brass bead)
- Body Corn-yellow (Egg yarn or bright dubbing)
- Accent Orange permanent marker (Wisp of egg yarn or hot-spot dubbing)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook (add a gold bead at the eye if you want it to sink) and lay a thread base to the bend.
- Tie in a clump of corn-yellow egg yarn on top of the shank at the bend.
- Spin a loose noodle of yellow dubbing and build a round, ball-like body over the middle of the shank. Think a soft dough ball, not a slim nymph.
- Add a small wisp of orange yarn or hot-spot dubbing at the front as an accent.
- Sweep any stray fibers back and trim the body to a rough round shape with scissors.
- Build a small thread head, whip finish, and rough up the ball so it looks soft and edible.
