Tie small dumbbell eyes on top of the shank behind the eye so the finished fly rides hook-point-up.
Dub a tapered carrot-shaped body of orange dubbing from the bend to the eyes, fattest at the front.
Tie in a pheasant rump feather by the tip and wind 2-3 turns as a soft collar behind the dumbbell. The long mottled fibers breathe as the fly sits, which is what sells it to a tailing carp.
Figure-eight dubbing around the eyes to finish the head.
