Carlson's Copper Haze

Classic Recipe
- Hook standard dry-fly hook (e.g. TMC 100), 12-16
- Thread Copper/rust or black 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Tail Brown or Coq de Leon microfibetts, split (6 fibers)
- Body Copper-colored floss or wrapped silk (as needed)
- Wing post White calf or poly fiber (1 clump)
- Hackle Grizzly/brown, parachute (1 feather)
- Thorax Rust/copper-brown dubbing (1 pinch)
How to tie it
- Tie in a white parachute post upright at the 65% mark and split a brown/Coq de Leon tail one shank length at the bend.
- Wrap a copper-colored floss/silk body from the bend forward to the post for a rusty, translucent segmented look.
- Wind a grizzly/brown hackle parachute-style around the post base, 4-5 turns.
- Dub a rust-copper thorax around the post base to fill and lock the hackle.
- Whip finish behind the eye and cement the post base.
