Reference Recipe
- Hook saltwater, 1-2
- Thread tan 6/0
Materials
- Eyes Black ostrich herl (bead chain or lead dumbbell)
- Tail Tan/purple material (craft fur + pearl flash)
- Egg sac Orange permanent marker (Estaz, one band)
- Body/collar Tan & purple material (dubbing or palmered craft fur)
- Weed guard Clear weed guard (double-prong mono)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and tie a pair of bead-chain or lead eyes near the hook eye for a hook-point-up ride.
- At the bend, tie in a tan craft-fur tail with a few purple accents and pearl flash, about one shank long.
- Wind a short band of orange Estaz just ahead of the tail as an egg sac. The hot spot gives the contrast reds key on.
- Dub or palmer a buggy tan-and-purple body and collar forward to the eyes.
- Figure-8 around the eyes, then tie in a double-prong mono weed guard facing the hook point.
- Build a thread head, whip finish, and cement.
