How to tie it
Measure the Metallic Tape against the hook and mark where it will end, just behind the eye and just before the bend. Start white Nano Silk at the rear mark and trim the tag.
Comb the short fibers out of a section of White Polar Fiber, split it in half and secure it from underneath the hook with the ends at the mark, using tight edge-to-edge wraps along the straight portion of the shank even with the point.
On top of the hook add the White N' Flash Pearl fibers, ends even with the white; secure the same way and trim flush. Then add Grey Polar Fiber on top slightly longer, Black Polar Fiber over the grey, and Wing N' Flash Purple over the black. Trim the tags flush, whip finish and trim.
Peel the backing off the tape, fold it over the threaded area and press it down, then trim it to a belly shape with straight and curved scissors. Measure and cut the Medium Silver Mylar, remove the core and slide it over the tape; secure the rear, whip finish and trim, then stretch the front over the tape and secure; trim the excess and build up thread.
Secure the 6mm 3D eyes (mounted on 85lb monofilament) from underneath the hook in front of the Mylar with figure-8 wraps and add head cement.
Mid wing: White Polar Fiber from underneath, secured behind the eyes; Grey Polar Fiber along each side even with the belly wing; Black Polar Fiber on top slightly shorter than the previous top wing; Wing N' Flash Purple the same length as the black. Trim flush around the eyes, build up thread and cement.
Split the thread, wax both halves, lay in Silver Ice Dub loosely, close with the twister and spin. Brush it out, then wrap it with hackle pliers between and in front of the eyes; secure with thread and brush again.
In front of the eyes add White Polar Fiber underneath, slightly shorter than the previous belly; Black Polar Fiber on top, slightly shorter than the previous top wing; and Wing N' Flash Purple the same length as the black. Trim, build thread, whip finish. Then with the same thread bind all the fibers top, bottom and sides down behind the eyes with a dozen or so wraps; whip finish and trim.
Lay a dozen strands of Light Blue Crinkle Flash along each side of the wing, trimmed shorter than the main wing and even with each other. Wrap Red Thread over the white collar for the collar, whip finish, trim and cement.
Restart thread in front of the eyes. Split-thread Red Ice Dub as before and wrap it tight edge-to-edge going forward; secure, trim and brush. Then add a small clump of Blue Ice Dub the same way; secure and brush.
Main wing: Wing N' Flash black fibers on top; White Polar Fiber underneath slightly longer than the dubbing; Black Polar Fiber on top slightly shorter than the black flash; a small section of rabbit strip underneath against the white for the throat. Prepare two Silver Badger Hackle Tips slightly shorter than the longest part of the top wing, flatten the stems and secure one on each side above the eyes. Trim the stems and rabbit strip on a taper behind the eye, build thread and whip finish.
Add about six strands of Dyed Olive Peacock Herl on top and secure; trim, build thread, whip finish. Use a lighter to burn off any strands past the eye. Cover the white with black thread, whip finish and trim. Thin head cement, then five-minute epoxy once the head is fully dry.
