Start black 70 denier thread about two eye lengths back from the eye of a size 14 scud hook. This is the non-beadhead version, so leaving that room up front is what gives you space for the thorax, wing buds and gills.
Tie extra small silver Ultra Wire in down the near side and into the bend, then tie in one strand of fluorescent chartreuse buzzer wrap right at the back and cover it as you wind the thread forward to finish the taper.
Wrap the buzzer wrap forward without much overlap and tie it off. The black thread underneath shows through the translucent wrap and tones the chartreuse down to a candy green.
Rib forward with the silver wire, tie it off up top, then optionally add a thin coat of UV resin over the body only. Keep it thin so you do not bulk the profile, but it makes the buzzer wrap absolutely pop under UV.
Tie two short pieces of medium orange holographic tinsel in on either side of the thorax and let them sit back out of the way.
Trim the brittle tip off a strand of orange dyed peacock herl and wrap the thorax, then pull the tinsel up and over each side for wing buds, take a couple of wraps in front to stand them up and trim them so they do not block the eye.
Cut a chunk of Antron, pull away half the fibres, lay it on top, take a couple of securing wraps, twist it and cross wrap behind to split the gills, whip finish, then trim the gills short. Peacock herl is a fish magnet, so anywhere you can work it into a pattern it helps.
