Reference Recipe

  • Hook steelhead/salmon wet, 4-8
  • Thread yellow 6/0

Materials

  • Tail Yellow mcflylon (hackle fibers (optional))
  • Body Yellow mcflylon (chenille or oval tinsel)
  • Collar Canary yellow (marabou plume, 2-3 turns)
  • Flash Gold flashabou (few strands each side)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread, running to the bend.
  2. Tie in a short golden-yellow hackle-fiber tail (optional) and a strand of gold tinsel.
  3. Tie in yellow chenille and wrap a slim body to the 75% mark.
  4. Tie in a yellow marabou plume by the tip and wind it as a soft, mobile collar, 2-3 turns.
  5. Sweep the marabou back and add a few strands of gold flash on each side.
  6. Build a neat head, whip finish, and coat with cement.
