How to tie it
Start the thread two eye-lengths behind the eye and lay a smooth base back to the bend. Tie in three gray DNA fibers as tails, about one shank length long, splayed slightly apart.
Tie in a turkey biot by its tip at the bend with the notch facing up, so the ribbed edge stands proud as you wrap. That raised edge is what creates the segmented abdomen.
Wrap the biot forward in slightly overlapping turns, stopping at the 70% mark. Tie off, trim the butt, and smooth it over with a few thread wraps.
Lay a clump of 20-25 gray DNA fibers across the shank in front of the abdomen and lock it down with three tight cross wraps. Pull each wing out perpendicular and anchor it with three more wraps.
Dub a thin noodle of Callibaetis Superfine and figure-eight it through the wing base, then dub in front and behind until you have a tapered thorax and the wings sit firmly flat and spent.
Bar the wings with a fine marker to suggest the Callibaetis' speckled wing, whip finish, and trim each wing to about one shank length.
