Wing Dun microfibetts (poly yarn or hackle tips, upright)
Tail Dun microfibetts (microfibbets, split)
Body Gray mottled material (stripped peacock quill or turkey biot)
Thorax Gray flotation (dubbing)
Hackle Grizzly/dun hackle (4-5 turns)
How to tie it
Mount the hook, start thread, and tie in an upright dun poly-yarn wing at the 65% mark, posting the base.
Run to the bend, tie in two or three dun microfibbets, and split them into a forked tail over a small dubbing bump.
Tie in a mottled stripped quill at the bend.
Wrap the quill forward in touching turns to a segmented gray abdomen, stopping behind the wing, and lock it with a drop of head cement. Quill is fragile.
Tie in a dun hackle at the wing.
Dub a sparse thorax and wind 4-5 hackle turns as a collar around the wing.
