How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread; tie a pair of bead-chain eyes just behind the hook eye with figure-8 wraps.
- Run thread to the bend and tie in a long hot-orange bucktail tail about 1.5 shank lengths. The long flowing tail is the Comet's signature.
- Tie in gold tinsel chenille (or oval tinsel) at the tail.
- Wrap the body forward to just behind the eyes.
- Tie in a hot-orange saddle hackle and wind 3-4 turns as a collar, sweeping the fibers back.
- Figure-8 around and behind the eyes, build a neat head, and whip finish.
