  • Hook standard wet fly (e.g. Mustad 3906), 12-16
  • Thread cream/tan 8/0

Materials

  • Tail Wood Duck Flank Fibers (small bunch)
  • Body Cream/red fox belly fur dubbing (full shank)
  • Hackle Ginger hen hackle, tied as a beard/collar (1)
  • Wing Lemon wood duck flank fibers (rolled) (matched slip)
  • Head Cream/tan material (small)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a thread base and tie in a short tail of wood duck flank fibers.
  2. Dub a slim body of cream/pale red-fox belly fur along the shank, tapering slightly toward the front.
  3. Wind or tie in a ginger hen hackle as a soft beard swept down and back.
  4. Set a rolled wing of lemon wood duck flank low over the body, extending to about the bend.
  5. Whip finish a small cream head and cement.
