Reference Recipe

  • Hook standard dry, 12-16
  • Thread pale yellow 8/0

Materials

  • Wing Wood duck flank (one clump, divided upright)
  • Tail Ginger spandex life flex (hackle fibers)
  • Body Cream/pale yellow material (fine dubbing)
  • Hackle Ginger & cream hackle (one each, 5-6 turns)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook, start pale thread, and run to the 70% mark.
  2. Tie in an upright clump of wood duck flank for the wing, divide it into two posts with figure-8 wraps, and stand them up.
  3. Run thread to the bend and tie in a small bunch of ginger hackle fibers a full shank long for the tail.
  4. Dub a slim cream body forward to just behind the wing.
  5. Tie in a ginger and a cream hackle at the base of the wing.
  6. Wind both hackles, 2-3 turns behind and 2-3 turns in front of the wing, and tie off.
  7. Whip finish a clean head.
