How to tie it
Take a few turns of 0.015 wire over the middle of the shank, enough to ride a little under the surface, not to sink fast. Start the Peacock blue thread, build a dam in front of and behind the wire, and run it to the rear.
Tie in red floss where the tail will sit, take two turns as a slim tag and bind it off; the rabbit will cover the butts.
Tie in a substantial bunch of Brown ringneck pheasant shoulder feather fibers, about 15, as a tail one body length long, and use the butts to fill the space behind the wire wraps. Snip the excess.
Tie in the Gold or yellow wire for the rib.
Wax the thread and spin on Brown rabbit dubbing. Wrap a tapered body forward in two applications, stopping short enough to leave room for the throat, wing and a big head.
Spiral the wire forward in evenly spaced turns, take two or three good locking wraps at the front, put tension on the thread and spin the tag off. Bury any sharp point with a few loose wraps.
Split one strand of Red wool from a three-strand yarn, pinch-wrap it under the shank so it comes straight off the bottom, pull it back a little to reduce the fluff up front, then lock it and trim to about the hook point. Fluff it out with velcro or a bodkin.
From a larger pheasant shoulder feather, pull a bunch of longer Brown ringneck pheasant shoulder feather fibers, a little more than the tail, set them on top with any natural curve bending down, and bind them in to end at the tip of the tail. Snip the butts.
Run the thread up behind the eye and build a large, smooth blue head; the head is the point of this fly. Whip finish with four turns and add a drop of varnish or head cement.
