Reference Recipe

  • Hook 1XL curved caddis/scud hook, 12-18
  • Thread Olive / brown 8/0

Materials

  • Body Green / olive / tan material (Dubbing or Antron)
  • Rib Gold middle (Fine wire)
  • Thorax Brown / dark material (Dark dubbing)
  • Legs / hackle Brown / partridge (One soft-hackle turn)
  • Head Black ostrich herl (Thread or small bead)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the curved hook and start the thread at the 75% mark, wrapping a base around the bend.
  2. Dub a slim caddis-green abdomen forward to the 65% mark, keeping it lean and slightly translucent.
  3. Rib forward with 5-6 open turns of gold wire and tie off for segmentation.
  4. Dub a small darker thorax at the 75% mark.
  5. Wrap one turn of soft brown or partridge hackle at the front and sweep the fibers back.
  6. Build a small thread head and whip finish.
  7. Pick a couple of fibers loose at the thorax to suggest legs.
