Reference Recipe
- Hook 1XL curved emerger hook, 14-18
- Thread Olive / brown 8/0
Materials
- Trailing shuck Amber / brown material (Antron or Z-lon)
- Abdomen Green / olive material (Dubbing)
- Rib Gold middle (Fine wire)
- Wing Natural dun wing bud (CDC or deer hair)
- Thorax Brown permanent marker (Dark dubbing)
How to tie it
- Mount the curved hook and start the thread at the 75% mark, base-wrapping to the bend.
- Tie in a short amber Antron trailing shuck at the bend, half a shank length long, to imitate the shed pupal skin.
- Dub a slim olive abdomen forward to the 60% mark.
- Rib with 5-6 open turns of gold wire and tie off.
- Tie in a CDC or deer-hair wing at the 65% mark, sloping back over the body to about the bend.
- Dub a small buggy thorax in front of the wing.
- Whip finish a small head so the fly hangs in the film, shuck down, wing up.
