Slide the Gold, tungsten or brass bead onto the hook, then take about six turns of 0.015" wire, jam them up into the back of the bead and break off the tag.
Start the Black thread behind the wire, smooth out the step between the weight and the bare shank, then run the thread around the bend.
Catch in the Cactus chenille, any bright color at the rear and take the thread forward in touching turns to just behind the bead; the dyed thread core colours the underbody.
Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns up to the bead and bind it off. There is no need to trim the fibres as you would with standard chenille.
Cut a length of White Antron and fold it in half, making the bundle half as thick as you want the finished wing. Bind the fold in just behind the bead.
Fold the yarn back over itself and lock it with two or three wraps, then whip finish.
Fluff the wing with a dubbing brush and trim it to about one body length, cutting at the bend, because it springs back up.
