Lash lead dumbbell eyes to the top of the shank about a quarter shank length behind the eye with tight figure-eight wraps, on top so the fly rides hook point up and jigs.
Tie in a full rust marabou plume at the bend as a tail, one shank length long.
Tie in the magnum rabbit strip by its tip at the bend, hide down, then tie in the cactus chenille.
Wrap the cactus chenille forward in touching turns to just behind the dumbbell eyes, stroking the fibers back each turn.
Pull the rabbit strip forward over the back like a shell and bind it down firmly behind the eyes.
Spin sculpin wool around and in front of the eyes, whip finish, and trim the head broad and flat. A wide head kicks water and gives the fly its wounded wobble.
