Classic Recipe

  • Hook standard dry-fly hook (e.g. TMC 100 or 5212), 10-12
  • Thread Olive-brown 8/0 (70 denier)

Materials

  • Tails Split microfibetts, dun/brown (2 sets)

How to tie it

  1. Tie in two widely split microfibett tails at the bend to float the fly flat.
  2. Wrap a segmented olive-brown abdomen forward to the 65% mark.
  3. Figure-eight a clump of white/gray poly yarn into flat spent wings to each side.
  4. Add a hot-orange poly hot-spot sighter on top just behind the eye for visibility.
  5. Dub an olive-brown thorax over the wing base and whip finish.
