Classic Recipe
- Hook standard/emerger dry-fly hook (e.g. TMC 100 or 2487), 12-14
- Thread Olive-dun 8/0 (70 denier)
Materials
- Trailing shuck Brown Antron or Zelon (small clump)
- Abdomen Olive-brown turkey biot or Superfine dubbing (1)
- Wing Dun CDC or poly yarn (1 clump)
- Hackle Grizzly dyed olive-dun hackle (1 feather)
- Thorax Olive-brown Superfine dubbing (1 pinch)
How to tie it
- Tie in a brown Antron shuck at the bend, about one shank length, to trail in the film.
- Wrap a segmented olive-brown biot abdomen to the 60% mark.
- Tie in a dun CDC or poly wing tuft upright at the 65% mark.
- Wind a grizzly-dun hackle 3-4 turns and trim the underside flat so the buggy fly rides low in the surface.
- Dub an olive-brown thorax and whip finish.
