  • Hook Standard saltwater / streamer hook, 1/0-4
  • Thread White 3/0

Materials

  • Eyes Silver / red material (Lead dumbbell eyes)
  • Belly / Wing White rabbit (Zonker strip)
  • Flash Pearl flashabou (Few strands Krystal Flash)
  • Back Olive / chartreuse / tan rabbit (Zonker strip)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start the thread at the 65% mark, then lash a set of dumbbell eyes on top of the shank a quarter shank behind the eye with tight figure-8 wraps.
  2. Invert the hook in the vise so the point rides up, keeping the weight on top for the Clouser's jigging action.
  3. Tie in a white rabbit strip as the belly/wing just behind the eye, extending two shank lengths past the bend.
  4. Add a few strands of pearl flash over the white strip.
  5. Tie in a darker rabbit strip as the back, matched in length so the two strips breathe together.
  6. Build a tapered thread head, whip finish, and cement.
  7. Wet the strips and stroke them to a point so the fly casts clean and swims straight.
