Nymph · Largemouth Bass · Smallmouth Bass · Panfish · Intermediate · 1 version

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Popper / stinger hook, wide gap, 2-8
  • Thread Black 3/0

Materials

  • Body Yellow and black banded (Pre-shaped foam or cork popper head)
  • Tail Black and yellow material (Marabou or saddle hackles)
  • Flash Gold flashabou (Few strands Krystal Flash)
  • Legs Yellow / black barred rubber legs (Two to three pairs rubber legs)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the wide-gap hook and lay a thread base over the rear two-thirds so the foam head has grip.
  2. At the bend tie in a black-and-yellow marabou or hackle tail one to one-and-a-half shank lengths long, with a few strands of gold flash.
  3. Glue the pre-shaped bumble-bee popper head onto the thread base at the front third, seating it with thread and a bead of superglue.
  4. Figure-8 two to three pairs of rubber legs into the sides of the foam so they splay out like a bee's legs.
  5. Whip finish the thread right at the rear edge of the head and seal it.
  6. Trim the legs to about a shank length so they kick on the pop.
