Reference Recipe

  • Hook 1XL wet/nymph hook, 8-12
  • Thread Black 6/0

Materials

  • Body Black / chartreuse / yellow material (Chenille)
  • Legs Barred / white rubber (Two to three pairs round rubber legs)
  • Hackle Grizzly (optional) hackle (One collar feather)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start the thread at the 75% mark, laying a base to the bend.
  2. Tie in a length of chenille at the bend, leaving the thread hanging at the 75% mark.
  3. Wrap the chenille forward in touching turns to the 75% mark and tie off, leaving room behind the eye.
  4. Figure-8 the first pair of rubber legs at mid-shank so they splay perpendicular to the hook, then add a second pair just ahead of them.
  5. Pull the legs back and forth and take a few thread wraps to fan them into a spider so they twitch on their own.
  6. Build a small thread head behind the eye and whip finish.
  7. Trim all legs to a shank length each side for maximum wiggle.
