Classic Recipe
- Hook 3X-long nymph/dry hook (Dai-Riki #710), 10-14
- Thread Olive 6/0
Materials
- Tail/underbody Elk body hair, cleaned and stacked (1 clump)
- Post White polypropylene yarn (1 short post)
- Body Ginger rabbit dubbing (over rear shank)
- Underwing Pearl Krystal Flash (3-4 strands)
- Wing Elk body hair, cleaned and stacked (1 clump)
- Hackle Golden-straw dry-fly hackle (1 feather)
- Thorax Peacock herl (2-3 strands)
How to tie it
- Tie in a clump of stacked elk hair as the tail/underbody along the shank, then set up a short white poly post at the thorax for visibility.
- Dub a ginger rabbit body over the rear half of the shank.
- Tie in 3-4 strands of pearl Krystal Flash as an underwing, then a stacked elk-hair wing over the top pointing back over the body.
- Wind a golden-straw hackle at the thorax (parachute around the post or standard), then tie off.
- Add a peacock-herl thorax in front, build a small head, whip finish and cement.
- Trim as needed so it sits well in the film. It should float high in rough water.
