Slot the 3.5mm copper tungsten bead onto the jig hook and start white 70 denier thread behind it. Vasies deliberately uses white so the thread does not darken the body colour once the fly is wet. A black thread underneath makes a finished fly look nothing like it did dry.
Run the thread to the bend and tie in both the Glo Brite orange floss and the orange UV ribbing fibre together so they wrap as one rib.
Blend Mad Rabbit and pure squirrel dubbing and spin a shaggy, slightly tapered body forward to the 70% mark. The squirrel supplies the guard hairs that make it buggy; the rabbit gives it body.
Wrap the paired orange rib forward in five or six open turns and tie off. Doubling floss with UV fibre gives a hot rib that also armours the loose dubbing.
Tie in a grey partridge hackle by the tip and take one and a half to two turns behind the bead, stroking the barbs rearward so they sweep over the body. On a jig hook these legs pulse above the stones rather than dragging in them.
Whip finish behind the bead. Fish it as the point fly on a Euro nymph rig in faster runs.
