  • Hook Mustad C70SD Big Game, 6
  • Thread clear mono fine

Materials

  • Body Bill's body braid
  • Belly White bucktail
  • Accent Pink bucktail
  • Back Chartreuse bucktail
  • Flash Flashabou (folded strands)
  • Lateral line Lateral scale, 1/32, opal (optional)
  • Eyes Stick-on eyes, 1/8 inch
  • Body coat UV resin: Solarez medium first coat, thin second coat
  • Glue Super glue (secures body braid and eyes)
  • UV Resin (medium or thick)

How to tie it

  1. Lay a base of mono thread on the hook.
  2. Tie in the body braid and wrap it on, leaving room by the head.
  3. Remove the short hairs from a small bunch of white bucktail and tie it in on the bottom.
  4. Tie in a couple of folded strands of Flashabou and trim them to stick out a little past the bucktail.
  5. Tie in a little pink bucktail on top, slightly longer than the bottom bucktail.
  6. Tie in chartreuse bucktail on top and trim it short.
  7. Optionally lay lateral scale along the middle of each side.
  8. Add a small amount of super glue, press the stick-on eyes on, and whip finish.
  9. Pull the hair back and apply medium UV resin to secure it, going back slightly behind the bend; cure it, trim loose hairs, and add a second thin coat of resin, keeping resin out of the hook eye.
  10. Fill any gaps with a light coat of thin resin and cure it, moving the light so it does not overheat the resin.
