- Hook 1XL-2XL curved caddis/scud hook, 12-18
- Thread Brown 8/0
Materials
- Body Tan carapace (thin strip of buckskin or chamois leather)
- Thorax/head Peacock or dark brown thorax dubbing (1-2 herls or dubbing)
How to tie it
- Mount the curved hook and start thread, running it to the bend.
- Tie in a narrow pointed strip of soft tan buckskin or chamois at the bend by its tip.
- Wrap the thread forward to just behind the eye to make a smooth underbody.
- Wind the buckskin strip forward in overlapping turns to build a segmented, translucent larva body, stopping short of the eye, and tie off.
- Dub or wrap a small dark peacock or brown thorax/head at the front.
- Build a neat head, whip finish, and cement.
