Shellback (optional) Medium pearl tinsel (1 strip)
Abdomen Tan Ultrasuede or chamois, sliced thin (1 strip)
Thorax Peacock herl (with a little black ostrich) (2-3 strands)
How to tie it
Start thread and tie in the copper wire rib (and a strip of pearl tinsel as a shellback if using) at the bend.
Tie in a thin strip of chamois/Ultrasuede and twist it slightly as you wrap it forward over the rear two-thirds, building a tapered, segmented caddis-larva abdomen. When wet the chamois goes lifelike and absorbs water to help it sink.
Counter-wind the copper wire over the abdomen for segmentation and durability, then tie off.
Dub or wind a peacock-herl thorax (a couple of turns of black ostrich adds a buggy collar) up to the eye.
Build a small thread head, whip finish and cement.
