How to tie it
Pinch the barb, start the White thread at the front, and dub a thin noodle of pink Ice Dub, wrapping it back to a little past where the rear foam segment will sit.
Cut a strip of 3mm pink foam and tie its rear end in tight at the back: one wrap under, over, under, over, then several more so it cannot spin (the Ice Dub underneath helps grip it). Mind the hook point.
Fold the foam forward and tie the middle segment down in the middle of the strip so it stays small, then fold again and start the front tie-down with several wraps, pulling thread off the bobbin so they are not yet tight; the legs, wings and post all land at this junction.
Lay a strand of White rubber legs along the underside at the junction and bind it with soft wraps, Madame X style, so a leg trails each side; build up a few more soft wraps there.
Tie in three strands of crystal flash on top and fold them over to give six strands trailing back; trim them a little past the body.
Tie in a small-to-medium tuft of squirrel tail on top, about the length of the body, with loose wraps going back so it does not flare, then a tighter wrap or two at the front; trim the butts.
Put one small drop of super glue on the wraps and let it wick into the squirrel, then lay a mottled turkey slip flat on top to the length of the squirrel (it pushes any flare down), one or two loose wraps, then tight wraps going forward.
Tie in a short tuft of White Antron standing up as the post, trim it short, and take a wrap around the yarn itself as if for a parachute post to gather it.
Take the thread forward, tie in a Grizzly dry fly hackle, take three or four turns, tie off with two or three wraps, snip the excess and tidy the head.
Whip finish behind the eye. Trim the front legs to nubs about half the length of the back pair, shorten the back pair a touch, and add a drop of head cement to the final wraps.
