Head Rainy's Bubble Head foam popper head (pre-drilled face-to-top channel) (1)
Tail 4-6 saddle hackles over bucktail (1 set)
Flash Pearl Flashabou or Krystal Flash (8-10 strands)
Collar Marabou or palmered saddle hackle (1-2)
Eyes Oversize stick-on eyes, epoxy coated (2)
How to tie it
Lay a thread base on the rear half of the shank and tie in a bucktail tail one and a half shank lengths long.
Flank the bucktail with 2-3 saddle hackles per side, splayed slightly outward, and top with flash strands.
Wrap a marabou or palmered-hackle collar over the tie-down area so it flows back over the tail butts.
Test-fit the foam Bubble Head, then coat the bare front shank with strong glue and slide the head on so its face is just behind the eye. The drilled channel from face to top must stay clear, since water spurting through it on each strip is the fly's whole gimmick.
Seat the head against the collar and let cure; add stick-on eyes and coat with thin UV resin or epoxy for durability.
Clear the channel with a needle before the resin sets.
