How to tie it
Start the thread well back from the eye, because a lot of material goes on the front half.
Tie in a tail of six or seven wood-duck mallard flank fibres (dampened first), trim the excess and return the thread to the starting point.
Tie in the small gold wire rib.
Tie in six or seven fibres of mottled turkey feather about halfway along the hook for the body.
Wrap the turkey forward slowly (it is brittle and breaks easily), tie off and trim.
Counter-wrap the gold wire forward in even segments to lock in the turkey, tie off and helicopter off the end.
Run clean thread wraps forward to close to the eye and give it a thread coat.
Tie in the Fino Skin wing case just behind the body.
Tie in tan ostrich herl by the tip, move the thread to the eye and wrap the ostrich forward as the thorax; tie off and trim.
Tie in the legs: three or four wood-duck mallard flank fibres per side with wetted tips, set at about 45 degrees, size them, then secure with thread tension and trim the butts.
Fold the Fino Skin forward over the thorax, tie it down, trim flush and form a thread head; whip finish.
Spread a little thin UV resin over the wing case and cure it with the UV light.
