Reference Recipe

  • Hook 3XL streamer hook, 6-10
  • Thread Brown 6/0

Materials

  • Bead Copper or gold slotted tungsten bead (1, optional, sized to hook)
  • Tail Brown permanent marker (marabou plume)
  • Flash Copper flashabou (2-4 Krystal Flash strands)
  • Body Brown permanent marker (marabou wrapped, or seal dubbing)
  • Collar Brown permanent marker (1 soft webby hackle)

How to tie it

  1. Slide the optional bead to the eye, mount the hook, and start thread.
  2. At the bend tie in a brown marabou tail one shank length long with a few strands of copper flash.
  3. Tie in a second marabou plume by the tip (or bind in seal dubbing) for the body.
  4. Wrap the marabou forward in touching turns, stroking fibers back each wrap, to build a flowing body up behind the bead.
  5. Wind a soft brown hackle as a collar and sweep the fibers rearward.
  6. Whip finish behind the bead and cement.
