Reference Recipe

  • Hook Long-shank streamer hook, 2-4
  • Thread Yellow 140 denier

Materials

  • Eyes Yellow lead dumbbell (1 pair)
  • Tail Lemon yellow (1 marabou plume)
  • Body Gold middle (Ice Dub)
  • Hackle Grizzly dyed yellow hackle (1 rooster saddle, palmered)
  • Head Canary (Bruiser Blend dubbing)
  • Legs Black-barred hot yellow rubber legs (1-2 pairs flutter legs)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook, start thread, and lash the yellow dumbbell eyes on top behind the eye so the fly rides hook-up.
  2. At the bend tie in a lemon-yellow marabou tail about one shank length long.
  3. Tie in a grizzly-dyed-yellow saddle by the tip, then dub a gold Ice Dub body forward to just behind the eyes.
  4. Palmer the hackle forward over the body in 5-6 open turns and secure behind the eyes.
  5. Figure-8 a pair of black-barred hot-yellow flutter legs at the sides.
  6. Dub a canary Bruiser Blend head around the eyes, whip finish, and cement.
