Nymph · Trout · Beginner · 2 versions

Reference Recipe

  • Hook Heavy grub/nymph hook, 12
  • Thread Red 12/0

Materials

  • Body California (buggy blend) (Bruiser Blend Junior dubbing)
  • Rib Red buzzer wrap (fine wire)
  • Hackle Fiery brown (1 soft saddle feather)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread, then tie in a length of fine red wire at the bend.
  2. Dub a slim, slightly buggy body of Bruiser Blend along the shank up to the 80% mark.
  3. Counter-rib the red wire forward in 5-6 evenly spaced turns for flash and durability, then tie off and break it.
  4. Tie in a fiery-brown soft hackle and take a couple of turns as a sparse collar.
  5. Sweep the fibers back, build a small red thread head, whip finish, and cement.
