How to tie it
Run the orange silk from behind the eye to above the barb in smooth touching turns, then wind forward to leave the front quarter of the shank bare.
Form a slim orange body filling the rear three-quarters of the shank.
Tie in one strand of peacock herl at the head, wind two or three tight turns to build a small dark head, then secure and trim. The herl head is the signature of this pattern.
Prepare a dappled partridge back feather, tie it in by the tip just behind the herl head.
Wind 1.5 to 2 sparse turns of the mottled hackle, secure, clip the stem, stroke fibres back, whip finish and varnish.
