  • Hook Wide-gap bass/popper hook, 2-6
  • Thread Brown 3/0

Materials

  • Tail Brown permanent marker (rabbit strip or marabou)
  • Body Brown permanent marker (spun and packed deer hair, or brown foam)
  • Legs Brown/tan rubber legs (2 pairs round rubber)
  • Ears Brown permanent marker (2 small foam or leather tabs)
  • Face Brown permanent marker (trimmed flat popper face)

How to tie it

  1. Mount the hook and start thread at the bend, then tie in a brown rabbit-strip tail about one and a half shank lengths long.
  2. Spin and pack brown deer hair forward in tight bunches (or slide on a brown foam body), packing hard for a dense, buoyant body.
  3. Work in a pair of small ear tabs near the front and figure-8 in two pairs of rubber legs along the sides.
  4. Trim the deer hair to a rounded mouse shape, leaving a flat, slightly cupped face at the front.
  5. Whip finish at the eye and add cement to the head.
