Reference Recipe
- Hook Wide-gap bass/popper hook, 2-6
- Thread Brown 3/0
Materials
- Tail Brown permanent marker (rabbit strip or marabou)
- Body Brown permanent marker (spun and packed deer hair, or brown foam)
- Legs Brown/tan rubber legs (2 pairs round rubber)
- Ears Brown permanent marker (2 small foam or leather tabs)
- Face Brown permanent marker (trimmed flat popper face)
How to tie it
- Mount the hook and start thread at the bend, then tie in a brown rabbit-strip tail about one and a half shank lengths long.
- Spin and pack brown deer hair forward in tight bunches (or slide on a brown foam body), packing hard for a dense, buoyant body.
- Work in a pair of small ear tabs near the front and figure-8 in two pairs of rubber legs along the sides.
- Trim the deer hair to a rounded mouse shape, leaving a flat, slightly cupped face at the front.
- Whip finish at the eye and add cement to the head.
