Ecdysial line Fl. white ecdysial line (flex-floss)
How to tie it
Seat the old gold slotted bead against the eye of the jig hook, mount it, and start thread.
At the bend tie in a short pheasant tail tail, a bit shorter than one shank length.
Bind in the sculpin olive wire rib and a strand of fluorescent white flex-floss, leaving both hanging at the bend.
Dub or wrap the dirty olive bug yarn forward into a slim tapered body, stopping behind the bead.
Lay the white flex-floss up the top of the abdomen as an ecdysial (split-back) line, then counter-wrap the wire rib forward over it in 5-6 turns to segment and lock it.
Tie off and helicopter the wire to break it, build a small thread collar, whip finish, and cement.
