Reference Recipe

  • Hook Articulated: streamer hook front, short carp/stinger hook rear, 1-2 front, 10 rear
  • Thread Black 210 denier

Materials

  • Rear tail/collar Black ostrich herl (micro rabbit zonker strip)
  • Rear body Black ostrich herl (schlappen, wrapped)
  • Shanks Silver articulated shank (2 articulated shanks, 15mm and 20mm)
  • Connection Red buzzer wrap (intruder wire + red 3D bead)
  • Front collar Black ostrich herl (micro rabbit zonker strip)
  • Cone Brass/black nickel cone (1, 1/4 inch)
  • Weight Lead (0.02 wire)

How to tie it

  1. On the rear hook, start thread and tie in a black rabbit zonker strip as a tail one shank length long.
  2. Wrap a black schlappen feather forward as a flowing body, sweeping the fibers back, and whip finish.
  3. Connect the first 15mm shank to the rear hook with intruder wire and a red 3D bead, then repeat with the 20mm shank to build the middle section, wrapping schlappen on each shank as you go.
  4. Mount the front hook, add a lead wire underbody for weight, and connect it to the shank assembly.
  5. Wrap a black rabbit strip as a full front collar and stroke the hair rearward so it flows over the body.
  6. Slide the cone head forward, build a thread dam behind it to lock it, whip finish, and cement.
