Brian's Simple Scud

Tyer Recipe

  • Hook curved scud/shrimp hook, 12-16
  • Thread Olive 8/0

Materials

  • Dubbing Olive/grey dubbing (body)
  • Shellback Clear plastic strip (over body)
  • Rib Fine wire (gold or clear mono)

How to tie it

  1. Start thread at the eye and run it to the start of the bend.
  2. Tie in a strip of clear plastic shellback material and a length of ribbing wire at the bend.
  3. Dub a plump, tapered body forward to behind the eye.
  4. Pull the shellback over the top of the body and secure at the eye.
  5. Counter-wrap the rib forward in even turns to segment the body and secure, then trim.
  6. Pick out a little dubbing on the underside for legs, build a small head and whip finish.
